With rarities such Ghosts before Breakfast or Fig Leaves, to box-offices like Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo? or Isaac Mizrahi's world portrait Unzipped.

Beautiful and Original

Although ELLEN DEGENERES, this year host of the Oscars, wore suits during the whole night, first a red velvet suit and later a black one, it sorprised me the general look of strapless neckline in women gowns: BEYONCE in strapless Armani Privé, REESE WITHERSPOON in strapless Nina Ricci, KATE WINSLET in strapless Valentino, and so on.
It was Australian NICOLE KIDMAN that pleasantly sorprised with her Balenciaga non strapless red gown. Beautiful.

First Award for Costume Design goes to...

The first Academy Awards Ceremony took place in Hollywood in May 16th 1929, at 8pm East Coast time. Douglas Fairbanks was the Academy President. But it isn't until 1948 that the Academy started valuing the work of Costume Designers.The first Costume Design Award went to Irene Lentz for B.F.'s Daughter [b/w] and to great Edith Head and Gile Steele for The Emperor Waltz [color].

78 years later, in this 79th annual Academy Awards, Milena Canonero wins the Costume Academy Award for Marie Antoinete.
CONGRATULATIONS MILENA, you really deserve it.

Great Donatella

Because fake hair and trying too hard to be sexy were synonymous of annoyance to me, I never thought I would, but I profoundly respect and admire this great woman, Donatella Versace. .
During the past years, since the dead in 1997 of Gianni, I've been loving step by step this woman with her strong sense of friendship, work and family.
A very good friend of mine worked for Gianni in his Miami days and therefore met her. He told me all kind of great stories about her: how funny she was, how good friend of friends and warm. She could be scary, of course, but who couldn't in her shoes? You bet. So I put hands down for her
I admire her vision and courage to maintaing her brother's fashion empire, all by herself and going through all kind of tragedies.
In its last issue, i-D magazine pays homage to her with an interview by Holly Shackleton, who presents us a very intelligent woman who knows where she is and who all her peers are. And please, don't tell me she doesn't look beautiful in that picture!.

First Interview of the Year

Three months ago a very special person came to town to live.
His name was Coke, like the nick of Coca Cola, and every time I saw him he was wearing amazing outfits. The first time I met him he was wearing these increadible shoes.. >>

Time went by and the more I knew him the more amazed i was about his life. He started a clothing line and i told him i would promote it.
So far he did thre incredible pieces when he decided he didn't like NY and he was moving to fun New Orleans. From one New to the other.

So before he's left I wanted to interview him for Milkshake Choc. and today was the day. I went to his crazy house and we were chating for quite a while. He's one of the most positive people i've even known and very fun to be around with.
Then he told me he won a very important Grant due to three designs he did and so he showed his staff in the important Museo del Traje [Costume Museum] in Madrid. Thanks to that grant he came to the States to live and continuing creating such amazing stuff.

One Week to Finish

Between yesterday and today a total of 9 models attended the casting for tomorrow's Milkshake Chocolate shooting, FUTURE CLASSICS. Fortunately there are still some new faces in town that skip LFW.

It's Hard To Be Small

I'm working in a photoshoot for Milkshake Chocolate with Vicente Pouso as photographer and Metal magazine NY Fashion coordinator Angela Esteban as second stylist.

You might be thinking how lucky I am, having a magazine to work with and a good photographer and stylist with me .. (btw, the pic on the right is an image Vicente did for Oyster magazine)
But, how wrong you can be thinking that way .. Dear readers, it's very hard to be small..

We started this shooting with a lot of energy; NY fashion week just ended and we had in our minds all these images of brand new clothing, new faces and editorials.
The date for the shoot was set for today Wednesady. We began to work on it last Thursday, last day of NYFW, but all kind of problems started to happen: there were no models in town (they left for LFW), showrooms phone lines were all day busy and almost imposible to reach due to the big demand of clothing these days and last, but not least, Milkshake Chocolate went at the end of their ques to give clothing. We are too small already.
It also happened that someone agreed to lend us clothing for the shoot and at the very last minute they sent an email to Angela explaining her very politely that Vogue have just called them and of course, who's first...

So we posponed the date for this Friday and still we are having such a hard time finding showrooms to get the clothing.

Fortunately some people is being very supportive like Ohnetitel.
Watch out these two girls because something is gonna happen very soon... I can't give the scoop yet.

Let's cross fingers and hope for the best to us all. love and happy valentine's.

On September 2006, British photographer Craig McDean did a shoot with a total of 48 models for that month issue of Paris Vogue. Among the models there were big names like Iekeliene, Irina, Gemma or Karen.

London Fashion Week ++ We say Hello!

Now is Londoners' time to speak out. I'll keep my eyes on Susie Bubble, the Style Scout, Oh My Dead Body and all the people lucky enough to live in the U.K. these days.
Please keep us fed with news and images and all the good stuff that your country always gives to the fashion world.
Today I bought my March issue of British Vogue with great Daria Werbowy in its cover. So i can say i started my homeworks already...

NY Fashion Week ++ We say Bye

Today NYFW Fall 07 collections touches its end.
It was a crazy week, running from show to show and eating in the run. But it was exciting and great people was in town for it.
If i have to choose a collection, i choose the street. I must say the people attending the shows and the models themselves were a treasure for the eyes. I found myself enjoyning watching around the people, their outfits and great style. And I almost missed one of the shows because of it!
I'll update Milkshake Chocolate within next week with all the ins and outs of my experience at this NYFW.

Iqons* NY Party

IQONS, the Europe based online fashion comunity, celebrated New York Fashion Week throwing a party last night at Mr Black, in SoHo.
Co-founder of Iqons, Rafa, was there representing the site, this time without friend and colleague Diane Pernier.

Against PETA, fur is back..

Fur is definitively back.
This NY fashion week is all about fur coats. And it's not about the collections, but the people who's attending the shows. Inside the tents or outside in the streets, they're everywhere!.
The Polar cold that's happening these days in the city is helping this trend to get stronger.

The new fur is rocking with new lenghts and shapes. Puffy body and hip lenght is definitively the favourite one. Back remained the long coats that our dearest grandmas rathered.

Would adorable Kate have something to do with a new trend again? >>

Fake or real is maybe the question... the ones i saw were real, but nowadays the fakes do their job better than ever: calm our fashion withdrawals and save our little planet in its way.

The girl i was looking for has been found!
She's British model GEORGIA FROST at Marilyn.

She was taking a cab at the exit of Reem Acra fashion show this afternoon when i took her picture.
I couldn't talk to her as she entered in the taxi right after the image was taken.
Even if she's not a ba-ba-boom of a model, she had something very special.
Anyone?

Ohnetitel

Last night I attended
Ohnetitel Fall 07 fashion show.
The first collection of duo Flora Gil and Alexa Adams, was presented at Chelsea's Florent Lynch Gallery.
The night was cold as ever. The show started around 8.30pm and there wasn't "show" as known but something else; two proyectors at both sides of the gallery, showed the entire collection in pictures. At the same time the clothing was ready to be touch and feel in a tiny back room. The quality of the clothing was quite amazing, i couldn't stop touching their smooth cashmeres and wools in dresses and cardigans, and the main silouette was thin and long, heir of these two creators' fashion backgrounds at Karl Lagerfeld and Helmut Lang.

I was happy to meet great blogger Diane Pernier.- who I mistook for Spanish artist Martirio... glups.. -and iqons* co-founder and director Rafael. I'm looking forward to see them again!.
Great night, great show, great people and lots of style... PS: FUR is coming strong!

Proenza Schouler in Advance

After attending Chris Han Fall 2007 show this morning at the tents, I headed over Opening Ceremony for a preview of Proenza Schouler for Target collection.

This Soho boutique is bringing us the op to buy and enjoy before anyone else the pieces that will be on Target stores next Feb 4th 2007.

The selling started yesterday and will last till next Monday.
The line was long, let's say about 30 min to enter, and around noon it remained only big sizes.
But if you get there on time.- the store opens at 11am, you might get in and find your actual size.
The collection is beautiful, the quality of the garments is pretty good and the prices are better than ever: cardigans for 30$ or skirts for 25$. Personally, the best collection of a high fashion designer label for a mass production company. CHAPEAU!

...and so do I.

It must be quite hard to live with just a little troller as a closet for a whole season, or at least for a month of fashion weeks around the world.
Fashion weeks mean eight at least fashion shows per day, running through cities or taking taxis to move from here to there. And you better have a stylish and yet comfortable outfit to live and go on with. You better, because hundreds of cameras will be pointing at you in backstage and fashion blogs scrutinizing the look after all.
Maybe that is why models are commonly seen with just Tees & Jeans: they're comfortable and yet so stylish, and they don't need to think too much about what-to-wear when the important thing to think is who will dress me?. But for the same reason maybe that is why that we fell deeply in love with those that don't do so, i mean, with those that don't just wear Tees and Jeans.

Irina Lazareanu knows how to combine her travelling troller without abusing the Tees&Jeans. And even if she repeats garments, she looks fresh like a lettuce.
