and there is a much more provocative reality unfortunately. HANDBAG:340 euros FOOD FOR A WEEK:4 euros, SUNGLASSES:240 ACCESS TO WATER:8 euros... it's quite hypocritical to make such comparisons like the ones depicted. so what? lol we showed once more our human side. bravo, bravo, bravo to the western world.
maybe this feels wrong because it's true? Something that is fact but so far away from us? Something we feel helpless about. It's like my granny saying "please eat everything from your plate, because there are children starving to death in africa!" (which always was kind of strange since my mother is from africa...). One the one hand we ARE responsible (by living the way we do), but on the other hand (what exactly is there to do for us)?! Well strange feeling, it's like making me responsible for the Nazimurderers just because I'm German... Commercials like that are just there to make us aware of existing problems, somewhere else, but it's too easy. Life isn't that simple. I don't like those ads!
Non Profit Organitations use those easy comparisons to make us feel bad about something that is not quite our fault: what i mean is that we were born in a place where money and prices and resources are very different from other parts of the world, and we can not compare our way of life with theirs, the same way we can not compare their amazing culture with ours, everything is special in its own way and it depends on relativity.
BUT, WHAT WE CAN NOT FORGET IS THAT PEOPLE IN THE SO-CALLED THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES ARE LIVING THROUGH A LOT OF INJUSTICES DUE TO, MOST OF THE TIMES, OUR COUNTRIES' LACK OF SCRUPLES WHEN IT COMES TO USE THEIR RESOURCES. SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND.
My name is Patricia Yagüe and I live in New York City where I work as a fashion stylist. I was born and raised in Madrid although I started to travel at age 17. I've lived in Dublin, Rome and now NY. I love the fact that fashion is such a powerful tool, something that people denies as such but religions, politics and wars all have their own uniforms, their own colors, and that's the first thing we learn to distinguish, even before knowing their beliefs.

the saddest part is that the "system" we live in is based on consumption as ultimate goal, and principle value of life. I buy therefore I am....
It is unethical not with "poor" people, but with all of us. To be reduced to stuff.
